In keeping with the theme of Thermomix opening the door to otherwise inaccessible culinary delights, we have devised a Sweet and Sour Chicken recipe that outperforms any takeout or tv dinner. Those are some high expectations, but this recipe is a real winner when you want something indulgent but don't want the questionable ingredients and additives. This not-too-sweet and tangy recipe really straddles healthy, home cooked meals and ultra-flavorful takeout. The secret ingredients are pineapple and apple cider vinegar, which will make your tastebuds dance with delight. Dig in!

METHOD


  1. Heat a clean frying pan
  2. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil
  3. Add pineapple to the frying pan
  4. Cook in frying pan until charred then set aside
  5. Add yellow onion, garlic clove, red chili and extra virgin olive oil to the TM5 bowl
  6. Fit TM5 bowl to TM5
  7. Chop - approx 5 sec, speed 6
  8. Cook - approx 5 min, varoma, speed 1
  9. Transfer sauce to medium bowl then set aside
  10. Add apple cider vinegar, tomato paste, soy sauce, pineapple juice and cornstarch to the TM5 bowl
  11. Mix - approx 5 sec, speed 6
  12. Return content of medium bowl to sauce
  13. Cook - approx 6 min, 100°C, reverse speed 1
  14. Heat a clean frying pan
  15. Add extra virgin olive oil to the frying pan
  16. Add chicken breast to the frying pan
  17. Cook in frying pan until cooked through
  18. Add rice noodles to a clean plate
  19. Top with red bell pepper, green bell pepper and mangetout
  20. Add content of frying pan to plate
  21. Transfer chicken to plate
  22. Pour sauce into plate
  23. Serve
