There has been much debate about the true ingredients of Nicoise Salad, some more puritanical chefs gatekeeping its name and others just happy to experiment with a loose idea in mind. Our Thermomix recipe keeps it simple and tasty with tinned tuna, eggs, potatoes and green beans. If you're feeling adventurous, get some herbs like dill involved for an extra touch of freshness, or throw in some capers to add to the olives' saltiness. INGREDIENTS


  • Potato icon

    halved, diced
  • Canned tuna icon
    Canned tuna
    7.05oz/200g (about 1¼ cups)
    drained
  • Water icon

    16.91fl oz/500g (2⅛ cups)
  • Egg icon

  • Green beans icon

    10.58oz/300g (about 2½ cups)
  • Extra virgin olive oil icon

  • Grape tomato icon

    8.82oz/250g (about 1 cup)
  • Kalamata olives icon

METHOD


  1. Add potato to the simmering basket
  2. Add water to the TM5 bowl
  3. Set simmering basket into position
  4. Add egg to the varoma dish
  5. Set Varoma into position
  6. Cook - approx 13 min, varoma, speed 4
  7. Add green beans to the varoma tray
  8. Remove potato and eggs after they have cooked for 13 min
  9. Cook - approx 7 min, varoma, speed 4
  10. Immediately plunge eggs and green beans into an icy water bath to cool
  11. Check potatoes are cooked through by piercing with a fork. If not, cook for a further *3–5 min/Varoma/speed 4
  12. Transfer potatoes to serving plate
  13. Garnish with extra virgin olive oil and salt
  14. Transfer eggs to serving plate
  15. Transfer beans to serving plate
  16. Assemble red onion, cucumber, grape tomato, kalamata olives and canned tuna with the serving plate
  17. Garnish with mayonnaise
